Walker is most definitely one of the best shows out there – it’s got mystery, drama and action that keeps you on the edge of your seat! I had the chance to speak with David Perez, who was cast as a background actor for a few episodes of Walker.
Please tell us about being cast.
It was when everything got shut down. It was at a time where people were still afraid of going out and always having a mask on. When it came about my mother messaged me first about the show, and I had never done a show before; I was like, I don't know if I should do it. Didn't know my feelings.
My friend Ashley sent me a link and she said, Hey the TV show's on gonna be on soon and it starts Jared Padalekci and here's a link if you wanna try it out. So I did and then I was still unsure if they were gonna call me back. And then they messaged me and they told me to wear four different outfits and to send them pictures of it. I asked my friend to come over to help me take pictures cause I mean I couldn't take pictures on my own. I don't have a tripod or anything. And then they cast me as a Texas Ranger.
Were you familiar with Supernational?
Oh yeah. I actually tried to get on Supernatural season 14 cause they were casting and unfortunately I didn't hear anything back from that.
Can you tell us about being on set? Did you meet any of the cast?
The cast was always very nice. I think everybody was a little bit shy to say hi to them but they would say hi to you right away and smile and all that. I never ran into any problems with anybody. Nobody was ever stuck up and nobody was like, “Oh, I'm better than you” kind of deal. So we're all on the same plane, which I liked a lot.
What did you enjoy the most?
The most? I enjoyed being in that combat uniform with the whole both vest and all that. And it was in season one when we stormed into that warehouse where they're playing poker. And what you didn't see is that there was a big old tube, a huge tube, and it was in front of us. So when they yelled action, we literally had to jump over this thing to go into this warehouse to hold people up. And it was one of the [first] stunts that I've ever done in my life, first stunt ever. And no one saw it.
Did anything memorable or funny happen?
Jared's dad jokes. We're on a ranch and there's a guy named Mark and he was trying to help out with everything and then he did something for Jared and then Jared was like, “Thank you, you're reMARKable. And then nobody laughed and Jared was like, Okay, I'll show myself out.”
Do you have any upcoming roles you'd like to share?
Actually, I just did a feature film yesterday for a corporate thriller. It's about a woman who is fighting the right to choose to say which vaccine she's allowed to give her child of birth. So I did another background role for that. And I do have another episode of Walker season three coming up as well.
