I’ve heard it said that Season 6 is a love letter to the fans of Lucifer, and I can certainly see how that could be true. There are so many throwbacks to earlier episodes of the show, ones that make you smile, and say, “Of course!” So many nuances … so many FEELINGS! (Cue Crowley gif here.)
This may be disappointing to some, but my review will not contain any spoilers. I want each and every Lucifan to enjoy the final season as I did – with fresh eyes … and a lot of Kleenex (and maybe some wine).
The entire season was a journey – a journey through relationships, in my opinion. We have seen these characters grow so much over the past six seasons, and it is extremely satisfying to see the way Lucifer end as it did. Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich, Lucifer’s showrunners, have, for lack of a better phrase, “done us good.” They care as much about the show as we do, if not more, and that shows.
For once – a finale has left us (or at least me) with no questions. Just a lot of feelings.
I am feeling … well, satisfied. Sad, of course, that it’s over … but Dr. Seuss’s quote: "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened,” is definitely resounding in my head.
We saved Lucifer. Without the Lucifans, the show would have run for three seasons. We doubled its life expectancy. And I am so proud of us.
My apologies for the short review – I will write a longer one, once a few days have passed and most everyone has seen the season, as I have a lot of things to say.
