Taylor Towery is one of the Winchester’s cast that you always see, but you never realize … she has been Meg Donnelly’s stunt double since episode 2.
So please tell us about your role on the Winchester's.
My main role was Mary's stunt double, which is played by Meg. I also was the stunt double of the young girl that was taken over by a demon
What has been your favorite stunt to do so far?
Oh, you know what? I actually saw both questions about what was your favorite stunt and what was your most difficult stunt working on? And I would've to say they're actually the same
Not surprising from a stunt person I know, but there was a gag and it was one of the first times that we saw Mary really get involved in action. I can't remember what the enemy was called this episode, but she gets thrown into a bunch of branches and it's super violent and it's super aggressive, but we really see Mary's toughness come out. Tat was definitely my favorite and also the most difficult.
So what was it like on the Winchesters?
The Winchester's was great. I really enjoy the crew. We were shooting in New Orleans and there's great crew members there, also crew members that seem to have work together in the past, which is always nice. And then you have, of course the four actors who are so much fun. I think that at the time that I was working with them, they were referring to themselves as the Core four, and they just have such great energy about them. They're so positive and everyone feeds off off that from your main cast. And so it's really important that the positive energy started there with them.
So what did you enjoy most about working on the Winchesters?
I think the world that you get to immerse yourself in, just the level of creativity that you get to see and be a part of being in the supernatural world and the different powers that you see with these demons. And we get to do a lot more interesting things. People having super human strength or they have these powers. It's really fun when it comes to action design because we got to do some different action and be a little creative and -- the writers were able to be, give us some really fun things to create.
Were you able to meet the two executive producers, Jensen and Danneel?
No, I did not have direct interaction with them, but they were on set a few times that I was there. And so I got to watch from afar.
Were you familiar with Supernatural beforehand?
I definitely heard of it. I didn't know too much about the story. I mean, obviously it is a huge, and so many people in my life had talked about it and been fans, but it was just something that I had never seen before until I got the original call about coming out on the pilot. And then I was able to catch up a little bit on the story of Supernatural. So I knew where we were going with Winchester's.
Do you have any funny behind the scenes stories to share?
Yes. I have this incredible video where we see JoJo and Meg [thank you to JoJo for providing the video!], and I think it was one of our first bigger days where we had a bunch of stunt players and we had a bunch of cast members and they were just goofing off before being silly and fun. And there was a fan that was blowing their hair. And so JoJo and Meg just broke out into Beyonce's choreo, I mean, I wanna say I cannot even think of what this song is, but I have this amazing video where they both just start doing Beyonce's dance choreography and playing the song in front of this fan. And it's just so fun to see that charisma between actors, that you weren't expecting it and you're just like, wait, what's happening? And then you're watching them and there's a full performance happening while they're lighting the next set up. It was, that's hilarious. Was really fun.
What can fans with the Winchester's look forward to?
I wanna describe it in a way that gives it the credit, a lot of excitement. But I think something that I saw in my time, there was just a lot of layers when it comes to story and who these characters are. And I think that that adds so much to, oh, like, oh, this is a cool scene, or this is a cool whatever. So it's so much deeper because there's layers to these characters that are being revealed as time goes on. And I think that really immerses the audience more so into that world. So I think that that's probably something as a Supernatural fan that everybody should really look forward to knowing the story of the future, then getting to find out layers of the past.
